Meet Our Chiropractor –
The Importance of Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic is a science and art which concerns itself with the relationship between structure (primarily the spine) and function (primarily the nervous system) as that relationship may affect the restoration and preservation of health. Health is a state of optimal physical, mental and social well-being, not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.
One disturbance to the nervous system is called a vertebral subluxation. This occurs when one or more of the joints in the spinal column or extremities become misaligned and/or do not move properly. This causes alteration of nerve and vascular function and interference to the nervous system. This may result in pain and dysfunction or may be entirely asymptomatic.
Subluxations are corrected and/or reduced by an adjustment. An adjustment is the specific application of forces to correct and/or reduce vertebral subluxation. Our chiropractic method of correction is by specific adjustments of the spine. Adjustments are performed by hand and/or with instruments. Adjustments can be made using a range of techniques. Here at All About U, we use a variety of methods to ensure that proper corrections are made and optimal function is restored. These adjustments can made using Craniosacral Therapy which is considered very gentle to typical manual adjustments which are typically less gentle. Other modalities such as acupuncture, massage, kinesiotaping, ligament and soft tissue releases, physiotherapy and/or rehabilitative procedures may be included. These may be provided by the Doctor or other staff.
Exercise, nutrition and other lifestyle choices are a very large part of the help we can provide. This is what you do when you’re not at the clinic (which is hopefully not much!). The Doctor can provide guidance and give advice on how to live better. Moving well and eating well are very important components to an overall healthy life. They lead to thinking good thoughts and improving the whole person. That’s our focus at All About U, come join us! If there is anything you want to talk to the Doctor about, go to the Book Now tab on our site to schedule a complimentary consultation.
